Laptop sleeve size guide: how to get the right fit for any brand

We get the same question from customers all the time: "Do your sleeves fit a laptop that isn't a MacBook?" The answer is yes. A sleeve isn't made for a brand, it's made for a set of measurements, and our padded sleeves work just as well for a Lenovo, an HP, a Dell, an ASUS, an Acer, a Surface or a MacBook. All you need to do is pick the right size, and that's what this guide is for.

1. Choose a sleeve by centimetres, not by brand or inches

Inches measure the screen diagonal, not the laptop. Two "14-inch" laptops can differ by more than two centimetres in width depending on how thick the bezels are, and a 13.6-inch laptop with slim bezels takes up less room than an older 13.3-inch one. That's why our sleeves don't talk about brands or models: each size has a maximum internal measurement, and if your laptop fits within it, the sleeve fits. It's that simple.

2. Measure your laptop in 30 seconds

Close the lid and measure three things with a tape measure: the width (side to side), the depth (front edge to hinge) and the thickness at its thickest point, rubber feet included. No tape measure to hand? Look up "dimensions" in your model's spec sheet on the manufacturer's website: they all publish it.

One tip that saves returns: write the measurements down in millimetres and compare them with the table below without rounding. A 35.9 cm laptop will not go into a sleeve with a 35.7 cm interior, however "15-inch" it may be.

3. Our three sleeve sizes

All our printed designs come in three sizes. The size selector on each product shows the sleeve's external measurement; here is what really matters, the maximum internal space for the laptop:

Three important notes:

• MacBook Air 13" M2 or later: it is 21.5 cm deep, exactly the limit of the 33 cm size. It fits, but very tightly; we recommend the 35.5 cm size so it zips up with room to spare.
• Standard 15.6" laptops (the usual 36 cm wide models from Lenovo IdeaPad, HP, ASUS Vivobook or Acer Aspire) do not fit any of the three sizes. We'd rather tell you now than after you've ordered.
• Thickness: the interior takes up to 2.2 cm, enough for any ultraportable and most office laptops. Gaming laptops of 2.5 cm or more won't fit.

Is your laptop between two sizes? Go for the larger one: a finger's width of slack doesn't reduce protection and leaves room for a thin notebook.

4. What the sleeve protects (and what it doesn't)

The exterior is water-resistant: it shrugs off rain on the way to class or a glass knocked over on the table, though it isn't designed to be submerged. In total there are four layers: the outer fabric, a sheet of EPE foam, a layer of sponge and a soft plush lining. The two middle layers cushion knocks and the last one stops scratches on the lid and base of your laptop. The zip runs along three sides, so the laptop slides in and out without forcing.

The external zip pocket is the detail daily users appreciate most: it holds the charger, the cable, a small mouse and a pair of earphones, so they don't rattle around your backpack scratching the sleeve. Carry it inside a backpack or on its own, under your arm.

What a sleeve doesn't do: it won't replace a padded backpack on a long trip, and it won't protect against a fall to the floor with the laptop open. For everyday life (backpack, car, library, café) it's exactly what you need.

Frequently asked questions

Does it fit a laptop that isn't a MacBook?

Yes. A sleeve is chosen by measurements, not by brand. If your Lenovo, HP, Dell, ASUS, Acer or Surface fits within the size's internal measurement, it works exactly the same.

Does a 15.6-inch laptop fit?

Standard 15.6" laptops are about 36 cm wide, which exceeds the interior of the large size (35.7 cm), so no. Compact 15" and 16" laptops do fit, such as the 15" MacBook Air, the 16" MacBook Pro or the Dell XPS 15.

Does the charger fit?

Not in the main compartment, to keep the laptop from getting scratched. That's what the external zip pocket is for: it holds the charger, the cable and a small mouse.

Can it be washed?

Yes, by hand in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, then air-dried. Don't put it in the washing machine or tumble dryer: the padding would lose its shape.

Does it fit a tablet or an iPad with a keyboard?

Yes, as long as the measurements match. Measure the tablet with the keyboard case closed and compare it with the table; a 13" iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard, for example, fits the 35.5 cm size.

What if I get the size wrong?

The easiest option is to message us before ordering with your laptop's measurements and we'll confirm the size. And if it still doesn't fit, you can exchange it within the returns period.
